Patrick and Caden, founders of Cable Family Farm, are part of a new generation choosing land over doctrine, and proving it’s still possible to build a life in agriculture.
Starting while still in high school, these first-generation farmers set out with no inherited operation, no safety net, and no shortcuts. What they did have was curiosity, discipline, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
Today, their farm focuses on pasture-raised poultry and no-till market gardening, rooted in regenerative principles that prioritize soil health, animal welfare, and direct connection with their local community.
We explore what it really takes for young people to enter farming today, why regenerative systems make small-scale agriculture viable, and how faith and responsibility shape their approach to work.
